From the meeting on April 16, 2026.

Meeting called to order: By Carl Kizer at 6:00 pm.
Invocation: Delivered by Cecil Boelts.
Pledge: Led by Carl Kizer.
New Visitors: None.
Elected Officials Present: Doug Nicholls, Mayor, City of Yuma. Mark Martinez, Council Member, Yuma City Council.
Candidates Present: John LeSueur, Candidate for Yuma County Superior Court Judge, Div. 5. Malba Alvarez, Candidate for Yuma County Clerk of the Superior Court. Doug Nicholls, Incumbent Mayor and running for reelection.
Secretary’s Report: Minutes of the CRTP Meetings are located at the CRTP website for review by the membership. Motion to approve provided Rich Medeiros; second provided by Dr. Sekhar Doniparthi.
Treasurer’s Report: Teresa Robinson’s report is given at the CRTP General Meeting the month after each calendar Quarter. The Treasurer reported on the current financials of the CRTP, along with donations received during the quarter from events like the Farmer’s Market, BBQ and Brew, the Yuma County Fair, and others. Financials are not placed into the minutes. Members may reach out to the Treasurer should they wish to discuss the financials in more detail. Motion to approve received from Bill Agee. A second was received from Rich Medeiros. The next report will be delivered during the July meeting.
Ways and Means: Cindy Wenberg delivered the report. She thanked the many volunteers who helped man the booth, sell merchandise for donations, provided food and drink, and just plain supported the efforts of the CRTP to engage the community and recruit members. The CRTP was active at the Fair, Farmer’s Market, BBQ & Brew, and other events. Cindy reported the donation amounts during the meeting. Financials are not placed into the minutes. Members may reach out to Cindy should they wish to discuss the donations in more detail.
New Business: The CRTP has begun to host events called “Candidate Corner” to bring to the community the opportunity to meet the various candidates running for elected office. Stay tuned to the newsletter and special announcements. The first Candidate Corner events are on Saturday, April 25. The first is at 9am in Wellton. The second is at 1pm in Yuma. Flyers were available at the meeting, but if you missed them, contact any CRTP Board Member for more information.
Old Business: Steve Birmingham solicited volunteers to fill the vacant Board Secretary position. Interested parties should contact any incumbent board member.
Steve and Cindy reminded everyone in attendance about the special event on May 2 at 1pm, featuring Andy Biggs. Rep. Biggs is running for Governor of AZ. Meeting details are on the CRTP website, and please RSVP on the website as well, to help us with refreshments planning, seating, and other logistics. This event will be held at the usual meeting location. Please carpool as parking is limited, and come early for the best seats!
Guest Speaker: The featured speaker for April was Rachel Alexander, a journalist with The Epoch Times, based out of their office in Tempe. Rachel’s Bio and archives can be accessed at the Intellectual Conservative website. Rachel spoke about myriad topics. The CCP, election integrity, AZ races, the media in general, election fraud, and many other themes were discussed. Attendees were well-engaged with many of the subjects, and there was much dialogue both during Rachel’s speech and after the meeting. Rachel spoke about the history of The Epoch Times, how it was founded, and the principles behind its reportage, and brought samples of the newspaper to share with the members. Motion to Adjourn: Tom Ramus moved to adjourn at 7:19 pm, with a second from Dr. Sekhar Doniparthi.
