From the meeting on May 21, 2026.



Meeting called to order: By Carl Kizer at 6:00 pm.


Invocation: Delivered by Sally Kizer.


Pledge: Led by Carl Kizer.


New Visitors: Danielle Whitten.


Elected Officials Present: David Lara, County Recorder; Judge (Ret.) Larry Kenworthy.


Candidates Present: Jane Fisher, District 3 of AWC Governing Board; Keith Ware, Yuma Elementary School District 1 Board; Nicole Baggerly, Yuma Union High School District Board; Alex Kolodin, AZ Secretary of State.


Secretary’s Report: Minutes of the CRTP Meetings are located at the CRTP website for review by the membership. Motion to approve provided by Rich Medeiros; second provided by Tom Ramus.


Treasurer’s Report: Teresa Robinson’s report is given at the CRTP General Meeting the month after each calendar Quarter. The next report will be delivered during the July meeting.


Ways and Means: Cindy Wenberg delivered the report. She thanked the volunteers who helped pull together the fantastic May 2 Special Event with Andy Biggs and others.


New Business: Steve Birmingham queried the members about the May 2 event, and the consensus was that it was a great event, with one member saying it was the best in a quite a while. Steve spoke about the board’s desire to do more of these but that it takes a lot of work, and more volunteers are needed.


New Business: Rich Medeiros brought up a question about whether there would be voting guides. Steve explained that the CRTP does not produce those, and that they are published by the GOP, but that the guides are generally viewed as the opinions of the one writing them.


New Business: There was some discussion about the CRTP endorsing candidates, and that seen useful by some, others were concerned that endorsements before the primary would cause some candidates to decline invitations to speak.


Old Business: Steve Birmingham solicited volunteers to fill the vacant Board Secretary position. Interested parties should contact any incumbent board member.


Guest Speaker #1: The first speaker was Jane Fisher, who is running for AWC Board of Governors, District 3. She retired from AWC after over two decades, and now desires to serve as a governing board member. She spoke of some of the issues she sees at AWC, and how she intends to perform as a governing board member.


Guest Speaker #2: The second speaker was Keith Ware, who is running for re-election to the Yuma Elementary School District 1 Board. Keith spoke about his background and supporting the community, and some key program changes being looked at, as well as the collaboration with YPG for the revamp of Price Elementary on the post. Guest Speaker #3: The next speaker was Alex Kolodin, running for AZ Secretary of State. Alex spoke of election integrity, his opponents, and his successes at litigating issues around election integrity, and what he plans to accomplish if elected AZ SoS. Motion to Adjourn: Rich Medeiros moved to adjourn, and a second from Tom Ramus was received at 7:50.
