Meeting Called to Order: Ruth Milne called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm.
Invocation: Cora Lee Schingnitz performed the invocation.
Pledge of Allegiance: Ruth Milne led the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance.
New Visitors: Melissa Wallace
Officials Present: None
Candidates Present: Melissa Wallace, contemplating running for AZ State Senate LD23
against Brian Fernandez.
Secretary’s Report: Previous meeting minutes are posted on the CRTP website. The CRTP
recommends attendees read and/or print their own copy of the minutes from the CRTP website prior to the meeting. Dr. D moved to approve the minutes, with a second from Steve
Birmingham. Motion passed unanimously and The Minutes were approved.
Treasurer’s Report: The Financial Report is provided on a rolling quarterly basis – next report
is expected at the January meeting. Financials are not included in the minutes, nor are they
posted on the CRTP website. Interested parties should discuss the financials with Teresa as
desired.
Ways and Means: Special thanks to Cindy Wenberg and Patty Potts for the delicious desserts.
CRTP received a good number of donations during the 04 Dec 2025 Potluck, and the basket
auctions netted a nice sum.
Participation in the first ever Downtown Christmas event netted quite a large sum – congratulations to all the volunteers. About a third of the total was received on Square.
Participation in the Farmer's Market netted a tidy sum as well, most of it received on Square, which is now proving a valuable mechanism to solicit donations and receive revenue from merchandise sales. For the revenue capture details, reach out to Cindy Wenberg.
Sign-up sheets for the next Farmers Market and for 2026 refreshments are now available. Please reach out to Cindy Wenberg to sign up.
Ag-Fest is scheduled for 24 Jan 2025 from 1:00 – 9:00 pm.
New Business:
1. Eduardo (Eddie) Meza, a recipient of a scholarship award, was present at the meeting.
He spoke a bit about taking CAD (Computer Aided Design) classes at AWC. His goal is
to become an architect. He is looking at opening up opportunities for those interested in
architecture in San Luis.
2. Dr. D. spoke about a focus by HHS/FDA on chronic diseases. Conventional treatment is
to use pharmaceuticals rather than looking for root cause and working to reverse the
condition (e.g. diabetes). He described in layman terms how absorption works in cells.
RFK is very interested in looking at reversing conditions, rather than just pharmaceutical
treatment.
3. Ruth spoke about how many people not only do not help President Trump get things
done, but also actively work against him. She used various examples to illustrate this,
legal immigration vs. illegal immigration being one of them. She encouraged people not
to sit back in 2026, and get involved.
4. Barbara Delgado brought up that many people are afraid to say anything for fear of being
censored, shut down, or outright be a recipient of violence from the left. Dr. D. spoke up
and recommended an approach: stay calm and ask questions. Phrase any challenges as
questions. It is not likely that one will change minds at the point of discussion,
particularly when emotions are high and in general, people believe what they want to
believe.
5. Carl Kizer mentioned that Michelle Peña is the one keeping LD23 red. It appears as if
she is the last backstop to perhaps LD23, Yuma County, and the State becoming blue if
she is unseated. There are two Republicans looking to run against her in the primary, and
we should do everything possible to help Michelle win the primary, and the general in
November.
6. Melissa Wallace mentioned she is seriously contemplating running for the state senate
LD23 seat against Brian Fernandez. People have been quiet for too long, and it is time to
step up to the plate.
7. Cora Lee spoke about her personal experience moving into and out of Canada, and that
immigrating legally is the key. She also mentioned that small groups of people, like
people in the CRTP, are able to influence larger groups. We just need to set our minds to
it, and do things “bigly.”
8. Marlene expressed a comment that people should respect the Presidency, even though
you might disagree with the opinions of the current office holder, whoever that might be.
9. Ruth spoke about the decline of structure in the family, along with the lack of parental
discipline with children these days. The conversation expanded into a lack of boundaries
for children, and a general decay in society. Dr. D. expressed the need for introspection
at the individual level, and a return to the Judeo-Christian principles that guided the
Founding Fathers. The now nearly complete separation of church and state, the lack of
morality that determines right from wrong, and the dearth of scripture in schools has led
the country to this point where moral clarity is largely absent.
10. Linda posed a question to Eddie, our scholarship recipient, about how his peers see the
country and the divisions that exist in society. Eddie mentioned that in his peer group,
there are many divisions, and that social media is driving further division, as people
consume the material from social media that, at best, is unverified, and at worst, is
downright wrong.
11. Sally Kizer mentioned that someone asked her what MAGA means to her. Her answer
was that the word “make” means to stand up and get involved. “Make” is a verb and it
should drive people to do something good for America.
Benediction: Cora Lee Schingnitz performed the benediction.
Motion to Adjourn: At 7:15 pm, Ruth Milne called for a motion to adjourn, and Dr. D. obliged. It was seconded by Steve Birmingham, after which the meeting was adjourned.
-- End --
Minutes taken by Steve Birmingham.
